Harriman State Park
One of the largest state parks in New York at over 47,000 acres. Offers hiking, swimming, fishing, camping, boating, and cross-country skiing. Home to dozens of trails including sections of the Appalachian Trail.
Bear Mountain State Park
A scenic park on the west bank of the Hudson River. Features Perkins Memorial Tower with panoramic views, a zoo, pool, ice rink, carousel, and picnic areas. The Appalachian Trail passes through the park.
Hook Mountain State Park
A 676-acre park along the Hudson River with stunning views of the Tappan Zee Bridge and Manhattan skyline. Popular for hiking the Long Path trail along the ridge.
Tallman Mountain State Park
A 687-acre park in Sparkill with a pool, tennis courts, hiking trails, and a bike path along the river. Popular for families and picnicking.
Nyack Beach State Park
A narrow park along the Hudson River at the base of Hook Mountain. Popular for hiking, fishing, and kayaking. Access via a steep path from the parking area.
Stony Point Battlefield State Historic Site
The site of a 1779 Revolutionary War battle where General Anthony Wayne led a surprise midnight attack. Features a museum and the oldest lighthouse on the Hudson.
High Tor State Park
Features the dramatic High Tor peak (832 feet) overlooking the Hudson River and Haverstraw Bay. Connected to the Long Path trail system.
Kennedy-Dells County Park
A 141-acre county park with trails through woods and along a stream. A peaceful, less-crowded alternative to the larger state parks.
Haverstraw Beach State Park
Located along Haverstraw Bay with a sandy beach, kayak launch, and walking paths. Great for families with young children.
Clausland Mountain County Park
A 504-acre park with trails winding through forests and past ruins of old Nike missile sites. Views of the Hudson River from several lookout points.
Buttermilk Falls Park
Home to the tallest waterfall in Rockland County. A short but scenic trail leads to the falls, which are most impressive after rainfall.
Kakiat County Park
A popular starting point for hikes into Harriman State Park. Features a pond, picnic areas, and connections to multiple trail systems.
Lake Welch
A popular swimming beach within Harriman State Park. Sandy beach with lifeguards in summer, picnic areas, and nearby hiking trails.
Rockland Lake State Park
A 1,133-acre park centered around Rockland Lake. Features a pool complex, golf course, walking paths, and nature center. The 3.2-mile paved loop around the lake is popular for walking and biking.
